Generosity of strangers 7

DAY 1: a little extra

A title I think I will be wanting to use again and again… It’s only day one but already I’m blown away by the people I met today. In John O’Groats itself, I think people are quite blasé about us crazy walkers and cyclists who attempt this route, but the minute you step away from that it’s a completely different story. Firstly this lovely local family who I met by the beach at Dunnet Bay, providing me with my first cash donation of the trip 👍 (I’ll transfer them onto my just giving page as I go…) Secondly there is Kat and Fiona from Thurso who I met via couch Not only did Kat come out of her way to pick me up from Castletown, but they also totally welcomed me into their home for few nights with offers of more lifts to help get to where I start/finish walking each night and my first home cooked meal of local fresh salmon. And most importantly their bright clean attic bedroom which I could stand up in and remained dry all night.

It was really lovely meeting you yesterday at Dunnet Sands on the first leg of your journey. You are doing a wonderful job and all in the aid of charity! I hope you thoroughly enjoy every leg of your journey and the sun continues to shine for you!
